Just recently, Huawei got in the news for its classy work on Kirin 710, a strong Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC competitor. And we can say the Asain brand isn’t aiming to slow things down with this new move. According to reports, the flagship chipset will perform twice better than the current flagship AI chipset – Kirin 970. Bear in mind that the Kirin 970 features an Octa-core CPU that speeds up at 2.4GHz max speed. It also features the top-of-the-line Mali G72 MP12 GPU to control the delivery of the best graphics. Let’s not forget that the Kirin 970 is the first chipset to don an AI which is very impressive. However, Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 845 SoC, since it’s launch, has taken centre stage with regards to performance. To keep up the pace, the Chinese brand also has the Kirin 980 in the works. This chipset is expected to launch with the rumoured Huawei Mate 20. Nevertheless, the Kirin 1020’s launch seems to hinge on the launch of 5G network. If we’re to go by that, the chipset will not only perform twice better than the current flagship chipset, it will also support 5G network. According to reports, the chipset will get integrated on Huawei and subsidiary – Honor devices only. Currently, there are no plans from the brand to dish out its chipset to other OEMs for use in their smartphones. We’ve noticed that the chipset industry is drawing traction than ever before. Not so long ago, Samsung got in the news for working on in-house GPUs on its Exynos chipsets. Now, Huawei is upping it’s game. It’s a matter of time before we start seeing chipset head-to-head battles from most OEMs. So, tell us, are you enjoying the recent attention given to chipset by smartphone manufacturers?
