Established in 2013 and based in Herndon, Virginia, OPAQ offers cloud-based, enterprise-grade security-as-a-service ( SaaS). The startup’s cloud solution Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) aims to secure networks that cover data centers, branch offices, and devices on the Internet of Things ( IoT). With its Security Fabric architecture, which encompasses network, device, cloud, and edge, Fortinet, headquartered in Sunnyvale, Calif., aims to secure data through digital infrastructures. To enhance its SASE offering, the company will integrate OPAQ’s ZTNA solution into Security Fabric. Through this integration, the platform can include next-gen firewall and SD-WAN capabilities, sandboxing capabilities, user isolation, network security, endpoint and multi-domain workload protection, identity access management , security broker for cloud applications (CASB) and firewall for web application. The acquisition will allow Fortinet to better position itself to meet today’s growing remote workforce’s security requirements, where more and more software, data, devices, services, and users need to be kept secure outside a conventional business climate. Integrating the broad Security Fabric of Fortinet with the cloud platform of OPAQ, Fortinet says, will help to deliver scalability, performance, true Zero Trust security, fully integrated networking and security, and a partner-friendly ZTNA offer. The acquisition financial details weren’t disclosed.
